HB QUARRIES
Sixty-nine kilometres along the Arnhem Hwy at Mt Bundy Station, HB Quarry is at the heart of the HB Group. Opening under the HB banner in 1993 they mine their own 200 year supply of granite and have the capacity to produce around 100,000 tonnes of material per month and up to 4,000 tonnes of aggregate per day as they drill, blast, cut, cart, crush, screen and refine their product, utilising everything they mine including the final sand product.
In 2011 a major overhaul of the quarry, designed by HB, was completed in 2012 allowing production to triple.
The crushing and screening circuit is recognised to be the largest and most efficient in the NT. With the added advantage of Vertical Impact Crusher, HB Quarries are a market leader in Manufactured Sand for the concrete sand industry, another environmental and sustainable outcome.
With the increased “OffShore Gas” component to the Territory economy another capital investment was made. The first and only Rock Trommel in the NT was commissioned in 2013, this major piece of equipment now allowed HB Quarry to manufacture armour rock products to intricate specification and the high volume demands expected in today’s market.
HB Group is a big believer in the statement “You only get back what you put in” and the massive infrastructure and modernisation at HB Quarries is a testament to that.
HB Quarry has an approved Mining Management Plan (M.M.P) determining revegetation and the specific locations where mining and excavation will take place which is submitted annually to the NT Government. Always proactive, whether in accountability, production processes or quality assurance, it is no wonder HB Quarry products are widely renowned.
